CLRBLND. Taps into Emotional Realism with Genre-Fusion Sophomore EP Echoes
Denver-based producer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist CLRBLND. has just unveiled his sophomore EP “Echoes”, a genre-defying journey through the fog of emotional uncertainty and the warmth of human connection. The 6-track project is a follow-up to 2023’s “Square One”, and continues the project’s deeply personal mission: to translate emotional complexity into cathartic experiences. With “Echoes”, CLRBLND. leans into a more confident and experimental space, enlisting collaborators and drawing from a wide spectrum of electronic subgenres including Melodic Drum & Bass, UK Garage, Progressive House, and Bass House.
“This is my sophomore EP release tailored to my exploration of a few different genres,” CLRBLND. explains. “The Echoes EP was created with the relatable feeling of uncertainty in mind. It’s okay to not have everything figured out in life and to live in the unknown.”
That embrace of the unknown is not just thematic—it’s structural. Each track feels like a bold foray into different emotional and electric territories, yet it all holds together with a shared sense of introspection, serenity, and an almost spiritual longing.
Breakdown:
1. Haunt Me (ft. Keeni)
The EP opens with “Haunt Me”, a hauntingly beautiful collaboration with New York-based singer Keeni. Keeni’s airy, emotive vocals float atop a triplet-driven drum groove and exotic instrumentation. The vibe is ethereal yet grounded, brimming with fiery textures that pulse like a heartbeat. This one is for fans of vocal-centric chill electronic music and makes a perfect addition to any gaming or road trip playlist.
2. Next to You
Taking things into more meditative territory, “Next to You” begins with gentle synth pads and ambient vocal samples before unfolding into a rhythmic, hypnotic sixteenth-note bass pattern. While mostly peaceful, the track introduces a chaotic bridge with building drums—momentarily disrupting the calm before returning to its serene foundation. It’s a beautiful metaphor for the moments of anxiety CLRBLND. explores throughout the EP.
3. Always
”Always” turns up the emotional intensity with its syncopated bassline and trance-inducing transitions. Starting off with tranquil ambiance, the track builds steadily toward a euphoric drop that feels both liberating and bittersweet. It’s one of those songs you want to experience in a packed venue with your hands in the air, fully immersed in the sound.
4. Give You (w/ Tim Loçh)
The first of two collaboration tracks, “Give You” finds CLRBLND. teaming up with Tim Loçh for a genre-hopping ride. With reversed guitar riffs, shifting rhythms, and a theme-and-variation structure, the track constantly evolves. Just when you settle into its broken-beat groove, it pivots into a 4/4 rhythm—adding surprise and depth without feeling disjointed. It’s a masterclass in arrangement and flow.
5. Holding On (w/ Dreambay)
Featuring DREAMBAY, “Holding On” is one of the EP’s sexiest highlights. A catchy synth hook bends in and out of warm electric piano chords, layered vocals, and a pulsing groove. The track gracefully shifts between ambient textures and driving rhythm, centered around a haunting vocal refrain: “Hold me closer.” It's emotional, nostalgic, and deeply danceable all at once.
6. Waiting
”Echoes” closes out with “Waiting”, a cinematic finale that opens with glimmering arpeggios and delicate vocal layers. Then, just as you're lost in its dreamlike atmosphere, the track explodes into a full-on Drum & Bass section—throbbing with energy and emotion. It’s a satisfying conclusion to the journey, a reminder that even in the unknown, there is power and momentum.
CLRBLND.’s “Echoes” is a mature, polished, and emotionally charged release that showcases the Denver-based artist’s multifaceted skill set—not just as a producer, but as a storyteller and live performer. From spinning at High Ground Music Festival and Meow Wolf, to supporting acts like What So Not, Chet Porter, and Chromeo, CLRBLND. has proven he can hold his own in the scene.
But “Echoes” feels like something more than just a flex. It’s a journal, a letter, a quiet assurance to anyone navigating chaos and inner doubt: you’re not alone. With “Echoes”, CLRBLND. doesn’t just create music for the dancefloor—he creates music for the soul.
Out now on all digital platforms, “Echoes” is a must-listen for fans of genre-fluid, emotion-driven electronic music.
